2019 in a Nut Shell

Want the inside scoop of what 2019 brought? We're so excited to share everything we worked so hard on. Check it out here in this blog.

2019 rolled out many new challenging jobs. We shopped for a new booking software that would be friendly to our guests of all ages as we were in transition to getting online. We landed with a new company that had plenty of its own growing pains, so we are thankful to our guests for being so understanding as the transition was challenging. Our rebrand started with a referral from our friend who hooked us up to Jennifer Holmsted. We think we hit a home run with Jen. I mean, look at our new brand!

We are on Instagram! Comm'n over and check us out: @seagullbaymotel Instagram holds the most up to date and current shots out our back door views and the greatness of our little town on this big lake.

We got a new website and are accepting online bookings! Wahoo, this is such an excellent tool for all of our guests and our staff. But don't worry if you are regular and want to keep calling we will still answer the phone and gladly take your reservation for your favorite room. A good tip for anyone booking any type of accommodations anywhere; book directly through their website. It will benefit you as well as the company due to large booking fees and flexibility for any changes to reservations.

Seagull Bay updated our WiFi; we now have top of the line systems for the whole property. "Working from home" to get a jump start on vacation, we have got you covered!

We haven't stopped painting since we moved in. Each space is being coated with a fresh coat of paint to brighten the place up. Even the outside check out this before and after of our property (and the new sign!). We used Ashland Industries, a local company, to help with our sign design and how sleek does it look. I had orders to Isaac that the sign had to be up by our fall Golden Happy Hour Event he pulled it off with a little help from his Dad! Thank you, Greg!

Inside the rooms, you are going to find tons of little updates we can't even count, but the biggest thing is our new bedding from Faribault Wollen Mill. We try to shop local whenever possible, and we are thrilled that Fairbault is just south of our old stomping grounds in Minnesota. We even have some goodies from Fairbault Woolen Mills in our retail space so you can take home a slice of Seagull Bay with you.

I know we have plenty of guests from the Residence reading this, and they know how many hours we spent refreshing that unit this winter. The Residence is one of our family units, 1,500 square feet, sleeps 6, a sauna, and stunning views of Lake Superior. This unit is one of our most popular, so make sure you book way in advance!

Well, with all of these new details we have had to take new photos of EVERYTHING, and man, are we happy we did. How fun to create space and share it with everyone. We wanted to capture precisely what Seagull Bay is about, and we did exactly that thanks to Trisha from Xsperience Photography. We even have some pretty cute models who worked for fruit snacks, and were so pumped for new PJ's.

Seagull Bay and Mollie Kae Hair and Makeup Artistry (me) helped throw a photography retreat. Two days, three photoshoots, and thousands of photos later, it was a big hit! We even have a yoga retreat scheduled for 2020. Would you want to throw a retreat? Contact Mollie today at hello@seagullbay.com

We ended the season with our Golden Happy Hour event that couldn't have been more magical. We are finishing up painting projects our office remodel (photos to come once we are finished!) and all the odds and ends of preparation for Seagull Bay for winter. Don't forget we are open all winter long and would love to have you with us.

Thank You for being a part of 2019 with us. We cannot thank each one of you enough to be a part of our story as Motel owners. Without YOU, none of this would be possible. Thank You. See you in 2020! We can't wait to show you what else we have in store for you!
